a workshop designed and facilitated by asmaa al-issa.
Workshop description:
A workshop series for Iraqi & Arab women currently living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (on Treaty 7 territory) to gather and explore artistic expression, and deepen our relationship with the land—both where we currently live, and the lands of our ancestors. This workshop is a chance to reflect on our life between four rivers: the two rivers in our city, and the two rivers in our memories.
Together we will explore collage-making, listen to each other's stories, and share our lived experiences. Participants will have a chance to reflect on their roots, deepen their knowledge of their present context in Calgary/Mohkínstsis, as well as reflect collectively on both personal and shared experiences of displacement.
Date/Time:
The workshop series will be held over 3 sessions:
Saturday, 16 January 2021 -- 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Saturday, 23 January 2021 -- 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Saturday, 30 January 2021 -- 1:00pm - 3:00pm
